APPAREL TECHNICAL DESIGNER (FASHION

POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position offers a unique opportunity for a highly experienced Apparel Technical Designer to join our Design team on an important project of national significance. Candidates must be self-motivated and a team player. Must be willing to relocate to Qatar.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Adhere to the Product development (PD) time line/calendar and Production dates from Proto through TOP.

2. Create Tech packs per style: consisting of flat sketches, detailed sketches/photos, specs, trim sheet / Bill of Materials

3. Computer sketching a must.

4. Work with Design and PD team: color and fabric selections, fit and silhouette determinations, trim determinations per style.

5. Create garment trim forms and issue comments for approvals.

6. Set up grade rules and graded specs.

7. Work with project leaders to analyze and finalize sizing issues.

8. Set up “How to Measure” manuals and construction standards.

9. Measure samples.

10. Prepare for fittings; conduct all fit sessions on models with the teams.

11. Issue fit, construction and spec evaluations to the factories.

12. Establish fabric and garment Quality Control Guidelines for bulk production.

13. Daily communication to overseas factories.

14. Track status of styles and set up Work in Progress (WIP) reports.

15. Create Merchandising line sheets.




QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• 5+ years of apparel industry experience as a Technical Designer, Product Developer, and/or Patternmaker.
• Knowledge Knits, Wovens, Outerwear. Accessories experience a plus.
• Knowledge of Garment Construction, Grading, Patternmaking, manufacturing processes and lead-times.

• Experience working with overseas factories, agents and mills.
• Strong communication, negotiation, organization and problem solving skills.
• Must be proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, Illustrator, and Photoshop, digital camera.
• Experience with Patternmaking programs: Lectra / Gerber a plus.
• Fashion Degree or equivalent experience.
• Ability to travel internationally / worldwide.


PLUS FACTORS:
• Fluent in Chinese, Arabic (but not required)
