Primary job purpose

We are currently seeking a Project Manager to manage a major aviation security project that involves developing and implementing a security framework at the new Doha International Airport, Qatar. Areas of involvement will include:

- To coordinate the delivery of project stages on time and within budget whilst interfacing with the client and other stake holders in terms of scheduling, managing escalations and controlling costs.
- To lead a team of specialist consultants who will have to complete tasks and deliverables that are essential to the successful completion of this major construction project.
- Deliver a structured project methodology to the client whilst managing day-to-day tasks, resource levels and change requests.

The candidate will have established experience in the aviation sector, possess a comprehensive understanding of Risk and Security Management as well as having obtained a recognised Project Management qualification (preferably in the Prince2 methodology).

Experience within security design, security auditing and the development of security master plans would be considered to be very advantageous. The candidate must be able to demonstrate the successful completion of other complex projects involving numerous stake holders and deliverables.

The support team that will be controlled by the Project Manager are base internationally and will be frequently travelling to the project site over a period of two years, the ability to manage this flow of resources and information is essential.

Main Accountabilities

Project Management (Primary function)

- To be responsible for the delivery of this project in terms of its structured methodology (preferably Prince2)
- To manage specialist consultant input e.g. SDS, Threat and Risk Management etc, as appropriate to each task.
- To ensure quality control and timely delivery and coordination of each phase of each project, within budget.
- Develop the project documentation for each project stage including sign-off processes, escalations and project expenditure.

Risk and Security Consulting (an understanding of)

- Be able to understand the customer requirements in terms of a developed security framework / master plan in terms of Security Design, Security Audits, Risks Management.
- Understanding of the causes and threats of operational risks, mitigation of security and risk threat and how to conduct analysis for threat and risk.
- To liaise closely with the Risk and Security Consulting practices in London and Dubai to ensure sharing of best practice and a one-firm approach

Skills/Competencies

- Project management within a consulting environment (recognised Prince2 qualification)
- Well developed client (both internal & external) management and consulting skills
- Strong commercial focus
- Effective decision making & judgment
- Assertiveness with strong influencing skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills – building trust & rapport
- Strong communication skills – written & oral (informal and presentation)

Knowledge and Expertise (relating to specialist knowledge and expertise required to undertake the role)

Essential
- Extensive knowledge of aviation security, its associated stages within a conceptual framework and how this is then detailed in to a Security Master Plan for implementation.
- Credibility in relationship development role at board level
- To be located in Doha, Qatar for the next two years (minimum)

Ability to
Understand and define client problems verbally and in writing
Present confidently at senior management including board level
Communicate client relationship; client requests in detail to consultants
