SME Credit Analyst

** Please note: Candidates with SME project finance loan and credit experience are preferred. Candidates with corporate banking experience will also be considered ONLY if they have performed loan and credit work because the selected candidate will be responsible for: Credit analyses; evaluation of credit proposals for businesses (short term capital loans, term loans for longer durations); studies that find out how clients operate their business. Candidates who have retail banking or financial investment experience are not a good fit, and will not be shortlisted, unless they have the required loan and credit background**

SME Credit Analyst

Responsibilities
• The candidate will be responsible for
1. Assessment of credit application for small and medium sized corporations
2. Underwriting of following transaction types: term loans, guarantees, etc.
3. Performing credit analysis based on both qualities and quantitative parameters
4. Monitoring and reviewing existing accounts
5. Making recommendations for past due accounts together with relationship managers
6. Working with partner banks on special credit guarantee programs
Tasks
1. Maintain and manage a portfolio of accounts within an assigned industry sector and program, i.e. direct/indirect lending for target SME sectors including both existing and new start-up business
2. Prepare new transaction proposals incorporating the analysis of the macroeconomic environment, the business, credit and financial risk profiles of the borrower, as well as risks inherent in the specific structure of a transaction
• Create Financial models for company analysis
• Build and work with risk rating/scoring tools
• present completed transaction proposals to the Credit Risk Committee
• Coordinate with Account Officer/Product Specialist to ensure timely response to the client and that the transaction is completed within the approved terms
• Monitoring and reporting
1. Provide regular reports to credit department and Group risk office
2. Daily monitoring of existing accounts for potential problems accounts
3. Prepare periodic management reports
• Ongoing annual and/or quarterly reviews of existing clients
• Train and assist interns and junior analysts as needed
• Maybe assigned specific additional responsibilities such as analysis and preparation of sector/portfolio reviews, stress tests, and/or other senior management requests as deemed appropriate

Candidate Profile
• Experience
1. Minimum 5 years credit experience within corporate credit/project finance or equivalent accounting, M&A or PE experience
2. Exposure to multiple industry sectors
3. Experience in valuation of start ups and SMEs desirable
4. Regional experience and Arabic are a strong plus*

• Skills
1. Ability to review and evaluate loan documentation, contractual agreements, insurance documents and other project related documents
2. Proficient in report writing in English
3. Demonstrable analytical skills including financial modeling
4. Able to multi task and work under pressure from deadlines
5. Team player with a can do attitude
6. IT: Excel expert - Word advanced - Power Point competent
• Education
1. Degree in finance (Bachelor, Master)
2. CFA or equivalent professional or academic qualification a plus
